About Us

The company, Cooperativa dos Suinocultores Ltda was born on June 15, 1947, in Encantado, a municipality located in the Vale do Taquari region, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In that winter of 1947, convinced of the power of cooperation, 387 small producers joined forces and, under the leadership of João Marchese, founded the Cooperativa dos Suinocultores Ltda. (Cosuel).

Still referring to the past, despite the modest resources and after facing numerous obstacles, in August 1948 the Foundation Stone was laid for the Swine Refrigeration Unit, since then in full operation in the city of Encantado (RS). Over the years, the cooperative diversified its activities, as the objective was to promote the sale of products produced by associated producers. Based on this principle, and meeting the needs of the emerging market, the Soybean Oil Factory was created in 1957 (later extinguished); Fábrica de Rações, in 1963 (active in the production of feed for pigs and dairy cattle) and the Dairy Industry, in 1965, in the city of Arroio do Meio (RS), the Cooperative then extended their branch office in Istanbul City in Turkey on July 5th, 2015.
